Snow Forescast for Mon 11th April in Thredbo?

Coming back to work after a 2 week holiday can be hard enough but when the weather has turned dull and grey it's even harder to get out of bed in the morning.
Yesterday as my first day back in the office I really noticed that Jindabyne and the Snowies temps seem to have dropped. I absolutely froze yesterday and resorted to pulling out the heater from the depths of the cupboard and putting away my trusty fan which had become such a piece of survival equipment over the summer months as the temperatures soared.

Thinking about the turn of the weather got me thinking.. Is there snow on the way? I promptly jumped onto MountainWatch and Snowatch forums for a look at weather forecasting and MountainWatch is forecasting snow flurries on Monday the 11th! Usually in my experience the weather patterns will change quite a bit over 7 days and this wont eventuate but it has got me thinking that Winter is certainly on its way and time is running out for School Holidays Accommodation in the Snowy Mountains.

Most people who book accommodation for school holidays know that you are wise to rebook your apartment or hotel room on departure for the following room to secure the best rate and availability. For some there is still hope. The thrill of staying on mountain at Thredbo or Perisher often means that you need to book early, however Australian Alpine Resorts still have some Thredbo apartments available during school holidays. you can check all availability for a property by simply following the link here to book online. if you prefer to check out what the pictures are like for each property then I would suggest to head to the Thredbo Accommodation page which has a range of apartments from studio to 4 bedroom condo's and hotel / motel style accommodation.

Once the mad rush has filled up on-snow accommodation most travellers will tend to look for accommodation along the Alpine Way either close to the Thredbo park gates or the Ski Tube for train services to Perisher then people will tend to look towards more affordable accommodation options in Jindabyne. Jindabyne has some great value lodges and a huge variety of self contained options from apartments to free standing houses with space for your favourite pet you can't leave at home. In any case, there is no shortage of accommodation for the NSW snowy mountains...

Unless that you are one of the families who travel in July school holidays with no accommodation pre-booked!
