What does cold weather mean in March?

Many people speculate about cold weather in the months leading to the snow season.. Will it be an early season? does water in Lake Eyre mean a good season? Plenty of things are noted as signs of a good or a bad season and its all down to personal belief on what is going to make a good/bad season.

I often wonder what makes people choose when they will book their yearly snow holiday? Are they confined by School Holidays with their annual family trip to the mountains. Weekend Warriors often drive long hours from sydney on Friday night to ski all day Saturday & Sunday then drive home and return to work, they are the most interested in the weekend packages available at leading snow holiday reservations companies like Australian Alpine Resorts who specialise in packaging lift passes, accommodation and ski hire in Thredbo, Mt Buller, Falls Creek, Jindabyne, Perisher, Hotham and Selwyn ski resorts.

Some people are driven by Kids Ski Free packages in Thredbo and Jindabyne. This usually is a package where Accommodation is free for children and adults pay full price. Usually one child per full paying adult and this can be extended to lift passes, lessons and ski hire for the children. Kids ski free packages are valid during the accommodation low season, usually selected dates in June & September.

If your a Victorian skier or snowboarder then White Space deals at Falls Creek are the go. Much like value season specials these packages with accommodation, lift passes and lessons offer up to 50% off the full rate which is an awesome saving when you stay at one of their preferred accommodation suppliers.

What ever your taste for winter and when you choose to come Australian Alpine Resorts are dedicated to providing great skiing holidays and know that when you package accommodation and lift passes you'll save money so give him a call on 1300 138 311

Dalgety Show - 6 March, Snowy Mountains

Dalgety's annual agriculture show was a great weekend of the snowy mountains rural lifestyle with horsemanship, dog trails, Wood Chopping, rides and plenty of activities to get the crowd involved like Tug-o-war!

Dalgety is located about 25 minutes to Jindabyne and roughly an hour from Thredbo or Perisher the festival brings plenty of locals and visitors from neighbouring areas and was great fun as the sun was shining and plenty of little kids running around eating fairy floss and sugary carnival food!

Summer is well under way in the mountains and there are heaps of activities like horse riding, quad bike adventures, and fishing is renowned in the Snowies for Trout and Salmon.

2011 Starts with a Bang!

2011 - Off To A Cracking Start

Its been a while since we have posted on our Blog but we have been extremely busy in the last few months.

What's been happening in the Snowy Mountains? Christmas felt like we had the influx of tourists that we do in Winter time, You couldn't get a park at Nuggets Crossing shopping centre and the glorious sunshine beat down leaving plenty of unsuspecting tourists a little pink and reaching for the sunscreen. Most days you can hear the noise of water-ski and wake-board boats tearing along the lake and the local favoured swimming spot "The Claypits" barely had a single space left available to park your towel or gazebo.

Jindabyne Rodeo

The Boxing Day Rodeo in Jindabyne always provides a great way to relax after a fantastic Christmas Day and the cowboys and cowgirls definitely showed their stuff on a range of events. The annual event has been running since 1943 in Old Jindabyne and remains a non-profit entity, with all proceeds going back into the local community and future rodeos. This year's program consisted of 15 action packed events including the open bull ride, open saddle bronc and steer wrestling. What a day! Christmas and Summer School holidays are a great time in Jindabyne... Why not check it out for your next summer accommodation location?

Always guaranteed to be a great weekend with plenty of laughs and a whole bunch of music, this is one weekend you don't want to miss if your a fan of Irish music, Guinness, Gaelic Football or just a great night out. The festival had over 16 different events including Irish dance, Hurling, a Gaelic Football competition between the local Bush-pigs football team amongst many other great events.

Flowing Festival

The weather just didn't let us down and with February brings the annual Flowing Festival. Historically it has always rained over the flowing festival weekend, and Saturday looked like the record was going to be kept but as we arose on Sunday morning the sun shone bright and the even turned out to be a massive success!

One of the major events held at the flowing festival is the Dragon Boat races. oer 20 teams battled it out for the top spot and our very own Philomena Conroy was on hand to serve sausages and cool drinks to competitors and tourists during the day.
The Jindabyne Flowing Festival was hosted over the 19th & 20th of February and includes market stalls, rides for the kids and information on clean energy living. A great weekend if your a keen paddler and would like to be involved why not contact Australian Alpine Resorts for the 2012 dragon boat challenge? Accommodation can be arranged at a great rate and you'll have a fun weekend with friends or maybe even enter a work team for some serious team building. Jindabyne Accommodation
